NZ police arrest two people after Whanganui assault

Two people have been arrested following an assault in Whanganui on Sunday 18 June.

At around 2.15am, Police located a critically injured man on the corner of St Hill Street and Ridgeway Street.

The victim's injuries appeared to have been consistent with an assault.

After a thorough investigation, Police have arrested two people in relation to the incident.

The two men have been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 19-year-old is due to appear in Whanganui District Court tomorrow (27 June) and an 18-year-old is due to appear in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday 11 July.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Thanks to information provided by the public, Police were able to hold these offenders to account and provide some reassurance for the victim and community.
