NZ police make three arrests after North Shore aggravated robbery

Swift apprehensions have been made following an aggravated robbery on the North Shore over the weekend.

Police have been investigating the incident at a Glenfield liquor store on Target Road that occurred on Saturday night.

Three youths have now been arrested over the incident.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams, of Waitematā CIB, says an air rifle was allegedly presented during the incident and alcohol was stolen.

"The staff member at the store is understandably shaken by the incident and it's incredibly fortunate they did not suffer any serious injuries."

Yesterday, Waitematā Police terminated search warrants at two North Shore addresses.

Detective Senior Sergeant Williams says three people were located at the addresses and taken into custody.

"Police have also located a number of items of interest including the air rifle allegedly used in this incident and empty alcohol bottles."

Two youths, aged 14 and 16, will appear before the Youth Court this week charged with aggravated robbery.

A third offender will be referred to Youth Aid.

"Police have no tolerance for this sort of brazen offending against businesses in our community, and we will continue to treat such incidents seriously," says Detective Senior Sergeant Williams.

As the matter is now before the Court, Police are unable to comment further.
