Officer bitten during arrest, WA

About 12.30pm yesterday (30 August 2018), police were called to a shopping centre in Midland after several reports of a man causing a disturbance.

Police attended and located the man on Helena Street. It will be alleged he was armed with a pair of scissors, threatening members of the public and the police officers, WA Police say.

As officers attempted to arrest the man, it is alleged a physical struggle occurred during which the man bit a male officer twice on the arm, breaking the skin on one occasion.

The officer received medical treatment at hospital and was released.

A 25-year-old man from Midland is due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court today (31 August 2018), charged with:-

•Threats to Injure, Endanger or Harm any Person;

•Being Armed in a Way that May Cause Fear;

•Assault Public Officer (prescribed circumstances);

•Obstruct Public Officers;

•Possess Implement; and

•Possess Prohibited Drug
