A police officer has been charged following an investigation by the Professional Standards Command.
In July 2023, Strike Force Madang was formed by the Professional Standards Command to investigate an incident involving a serving police officer attached to the South West Metropolitan Region.
Following extensive inquiries, the 24-year-old male constable was issued a court attendance notice for the offence of common assault yesterday (Friday 27 October 2023).
The officer is due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 13 December 2023.
His employment status is currently under review.
