Oil Spill - Yulara

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a hazmat incident in the township of Yulara earlier today.

At about 8am, NTFRS crews had found a flatbed truck carrying four 1000 litre pods of oil, one of which had been punctured from equipment on board the truck. Members utilised bunding techniques to contain the oil spill with assistance from Police and local machinery operators. The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority and NT Worksafe were notified of the incident.

Station Officer Miles said "Crews worked together with Voyages Ayers Rock Resort staff and Police to contain and manage the oil spill, preventing further environmental impact."
