On starting blocks for outdoor pool

Earlier this week Brimbank City Council welcomed a $10 million election commitment by the Liberal-National Coalition to fund an outdoor pool at the new Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre in Keilor Downs.

The new centre has four indoor pools. In order to future proof the design of the centre, space for an outdoor 25m pool was incorporated in the overall site plan.

Council has continued to strongly advocate to pursue further opportunities for funding at state and federal level for this important facility.

Quotes attributable to Brimbank Mayor, Cr Jasmine Nguyen:

"The announcement is welcome news for Brimbank and we thank the Liberal-National Coalition for this generous contribution, should they be elected in November.

"We now call on the Australian Labor Party to match this commitment and to help to deliver even more benefits to our community.

"A lot of community members are still asking for an outdoor pool and we look forward to being able to be provide one to further enhance this exciting new hub, regardless of which party wins the upcoming State Election."
