Online booking trial for Clarence Valley tennis courts

A new tennis court booking system will be trialled at select locations across the Clarence Valley.

Iluka, Coutts Crossing and Glenreagh courts have been chosen for a twelve-month trial of the online system.

Consisting of a booking portal and a smart padlock, users will be able to pay for court hire online and gain access using a pin number provided at the time of booking.

Clarence Valley Council Manager for Open Spaces and Facilities, Peter Birch, said the trial was a new approach to how council facilities were managed.

"This is a smart system that will also enable us to gather data about court usage," Mr Birch said.

"It will not only ensure the courts are being booked correctly but will also help us to direct funds to the facilities where they are most needed."

There are close to 70 tennis courts throughout the Clarence Valley with an allocated budget of $20K for maintenance.

"Maintaining these facilities across the LGA is a challenge so smarter ways to better understand their use will be greatly beneficial" Mr Birch said.

The initial trial of the online booking system will commence in late December 2021/early January 2022.
