Online gaming comes to Greater Hamilton Library

School holiday programs are back in the Southern Grampians Shire and the Greater Hamilton Library is celebrating by hosting a youth online gaming tournament.

The tournament will see teams of three compete against each other in Rocket League in the hope of being the ultimate champions and winning one of several prizes on offer.

The event, which is open to 12-18 year olds, will also feature a range of other fun activities including Beat Saber on Oculus Quest virtual reality goggles and a guided virtual history tour.

Senior Library Officer Jenny Poynton said the library were thrilled to be able to offer the event to the young people in the region.

"With COVID having a significant impact on youth and their mental health in 2020, we're really excited to be hosting this event this school holidays", Ms Poynton said.

"We believe the library is a great community space for young people to engage socially and connect safely with like-minded people within their own community. This is a new type of event for us and one we hope will resonate with youth."
