Operation Whiskey Mimic: North Brisbane Sees Surge in Stolen Vehicles

Officers from the Fortitude Valley Tactical Crime Squad, Criminal Investigation Branch and Boondall Highway Patrol have charged several people and recovered several stolen vehicles following a targeted operation across North Brisbane earlier this week.

Operation Whiskey Mimic, which ran from Sunday, April 7, to Monday, April 8, saw officers target stolen vehicles and dangerous driving offences through covert and targeted patrols across the Brisbane area.

As a result, officers arrested 21 people on a total of 71 offences, and seven stolen vehicles were recovered.

As a part of the action, officers executed a search warrant at an Ashley Rd, Chermside West address, where they allegedly located a stolen Audi 2 station wagon, as well as two weapon silencers, a large quantity of cash, false identification, and a number of drugs.

It will be alleged the Audi was reported stolen from a Bilinga business on Saturday, March 23.

A 43-year-old Cannon Hill man was charged with two counts of unlawful possess of weapons, receiving tainted property, and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of property suspected of being acquired with proceeds of a drug offence, possessing relevant substance, possess dangerous drugs, possess property suspected of being used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, obtaining identification information.

A 25-year-old Hemmant woman has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing relevant substances, possessing dangerous drugs, possess utensils, driving unlicensed.

They were both remanded in custody and are due to reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 8.
