Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the theft of a car from outside a fast-food outlet last night in Burwood East, Victoria Police say.
The owner of the car, a 23-year-old Mount Waverley man left the engine of his 2009 Holden Cruze, registered 1NG2DC, running as he went into the shop.
When he returned, an opportunistic thief had stolen his vehicle along with his two month old Shih Tzu cross Maltese terrier named Oreo.
Anyone with information is urged is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
