From 28 to 30 April 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD), in co-ordination with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and General Prosecutor's Office of Republic of Uzbekistan, conducted a course on "Foundations of Digital Forensics and the Use of OSINT for Fighting Cybercrime" for 15 officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and five prosecutors from the General Prosecutor's Office in Dushanbe.

Delivered by two experts from the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the course covered types of cybercrimes, problematic issues in classifying these offenses, and the fundamentals of digital forensics. Participants explored legal regulations regarding digital evidence and learned about essential concepts such as hash functions and their role in digital media. The course concluded with a focus on OSINT methods for investigations, including techniques for the dark web, and provided insights into international standards and legislation in cybersecurity.

In his remarks, OSCE POiD Police Affairs Adviser Miroslav Milojevic highlighted that as crimes involving digital technologies continue to grow, it has become a key priority for law enforcement agencies across OSCE region to strengthen their capacities to address cyber threats. He noted that the OSCE, together with its partners, remains committed to supporting Tajikistan in sustainably building national expertise in investigating cybercrime and handling electronic evidence.
