OSCE Secretary General Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu concluded an official visit to Tajikistan, reaffirming the Organization's strong partnership with the country and its continued commitment to strengthening co-operation across Central Asia.
During his visit to Dushanbe, the Secretary General met with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin and First Deputy Chairman, Commander of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security Lieutenant General Rajabzoda Murodali Rajab. Discussions focused on the OSCE's long-standing partnership with Tajikistan, regional security challenges and opportunities to strengthen co-operation under the OSCE's comprehensive security agenda.
The Secretary General highlighted the important role of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe in supporting Tajikistan's priorities and promoting regional stability and resilience. He also underscored the importance of continued strong co-ordination through mechanisms such as the Partnership Platform in ensuring effective OSCE support.
"More than a year after the resolution of long-standing border issues between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, I travelled to Dushanbe to stress that Tajikistan is an important partner for the OSCE, and we highly value our strong co-operation," said Secretary General Sinirlioğlu. "The OSCE highly values Tajikistan's important role ranging from border management to glacier preservation and climate resilience. For 30 years, the OSCE has worked to support the vision of the authorities to support shared priorities, and we remain committed to advancing this partnership and addressing common challenges together."
As part of his visit, the Secretary General also met with representatives of civil society.
The Secretary General visited the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, where he met with staff members and expressed appreciation for their professionalism, dedication and continued efforts in supporting the OSCE's work in Tajikistan.
