OSCE High Commissioner On National Minorities Discusses Broad Range Of Issues Related To His Mandate In Visit To Romania

OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Christophe Kamp visited Romania from 16 to 18 February 2026, where he met with Foreign Affairs Minister Oana-Silvia Țoiu in Bucharest to discuss issues pertaining to his mandate.

Kamp also met with Culture Minister András István Demeter, as well as representatives of the Education and Research Ministry, the Department for Interethnic Relations, the Department for Romanians Abroad, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the National Council on Combating Discrimination, the Parliamentary Group of Representatives of National Minorities, and the UDMR/RMDSZ Parliamentary Group.

During his visit, Kamp discussed Romania's legal and institutional framework aimed at accommodating the interests of national minorities.

In Cluj-Napoca, Kamp met with representatives of national minorities, the Rector, the Vice Rectors of the Hungarian and German lines of study, students and faculty of Babeș-Bolyai University, members of the local council, and the Mayor. He also met with the President of the Romanian Institute for Research on National Minorities to exchange views on research and initiatives aimed at promoting and supporting national minorities.
