- Remaining WA Student Assistance Payment program funds distributed to Parents and Citizens Associations and Parents and Friends Associations
- School P&Cs and P&Fs to determine how $980 payments will be used to further support their school communities
- Acknowledgement of the great work P&Cs and P&Fs do in supporting vulnerable families and students
Every Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) and Parents and Friends Association (P&F) across Western Australia has received a share of the remaining 2025 WA Student Assistance Payment funds to continue supporting their school communities and families.
The successful 2025 WA Student Assistance Payment initiative delivered 424,005 payments, $250 for every secondary school student and $150 for kindergarten and primary students, direct to Western Australian families earlier this year, providing cost-of-living relief and assisting with school-related costs.
To ensure the unclaimed funds continue to go towards supporting WA school families and the associations that help them, Education Minister Sabine Winton announced $980 one-off payments would be provided to P&Cs and P&Fs, to help them to continue the incredible work they do supporting students and families.
In acknowledgement of P&Cs and P&Fs' understanding of their school communities, and to facilitate support to families in a fast and timely manner, they will choose how the funds will be used.
They are in addition to the Cook Government's new Country Week Assistance Program, which continues to provide financial support to regional families to remove barriers to students travelling to take part in Country Week events in Perth.
A total of $8 million has been committed over four years for the Country Week program, which reduces costs by $250 per student for schools located 300 kilometres or less from Perth, and by $500 per students for schools located more than 300 kilometres from the metropolitan area.
The payments support the Cook Government's commitment to delivering quality services across the State by investing in education.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
"The 2025 WA Student Assistance Payment was available for every kindergarten, primary and secondary school student - and a record number successfully claimed the payment this year.
"To ensure the unclaimed funds can be distributed quickly to provide further support for families, $980 has been provided to each P&C and P&F so they can determine how the funds are used.
"This acknowledges these associations' understanding of school communities and their unique priorities, including the incredible work they do supporting local families.
"I'd like to thank P&Cs and P&Fs for their ongoing commitment to supporting students in Western Australia. We recognise the important work you do in helping families and strengthening participation in your school community."
