Upgrade works are now underway on the Alma Treloar Reserve dog park in Cockatoo.
Alma Treloar Reserve is a popular spot for local dog owners, and Council is now working to refresh and upgrade the space to establish the park as a regional-level off-leash area.
These works will significantly enhance the park's functionality, safety, and accessibility for both dogs and their owners.
Upgrades will include:
- Concrete walking paths
- Shelter and seating
- Enhanced landscaping and signage
- Drainage improvements
- Improved park entry points for small and large dogs
These final upgrade plans were shaped by extensive community consultation undertaken throughout 2025. Feedback highlighted the need to address poor drainage, increase seating and shelter, add a perimeter walking path and drinking fountain, and introduce additional features to enhance the space.
These works will support the implementation of the Alma Treloar Masterplan, including projects such as the amphitheatre, dog off-leash area, Scout Hall, pump track, new public toilets, Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail, and community events such as markets.
To ensure community safety, parts of the dog park may be fenced off or temporarily closed during construction. We will be working to minimise disruptions, however, please understand that increased noise, dust, lighting and limited parking may be temporarily experienced within the reserve.
This project is supported by Council and the Victorian Government's New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, with construction expected to be completed by June 2026, weather permitting.
We ask for understanding and patience as we work towards building better local parks and open spaces for the benefit of the wider community.
