Pedestrian injured after hit-run collision in Sunshine

Brimbank Highway Patrol officers are appealing for public assistance following a hit-run collision that left a pedestrian with serious injuries in Sunshine last week.

It is believed a grey or silver Toyota sedan was travelling on Ballarat Road when it mounted the footpath and collided with a 40-year-old man, near Stonemark Street, just after 4pm on Monday 16 October.

Police were told the vehicle then crashed into several council bins on the nature strip moments after knocking over the pedestrian.

The Footscray man was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.

The driver did not stop and drove away from the scene.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or anyone with dashcam footage.

Officers have also released images of a car, similar in colour and model to the one believed involved, and images of the bins strewn across the nature strip in the hope it will assist the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
