The City of Perth is proud to support Global Citizen NOW: Perth (18 - 20 October), which brings together leaders at the centre of international and local conversations about the future of energy, climate action, sustainable economic development and global cooperation.
The action summit marks Global Citizen NOW's return to Perth for the first time in 15 years. As the world's largest movement to end extreme poverty, its return provides a platform to showcase Perth as a modern, innovative and liveable capital city.
Deputy Lord Mayor David Goncalves said Perth has a unique role to play in connecting local businesses, innovators and institutions with the ideas, investment and partnerships that will shape our future.
"Global Citizen NOW: Perth brings influential leaders from around the world to our city, creating opportunities to showcase our capabilities and highlight why Perth is an attractive place to invest, do business and develop new ideas," he said.
"The event's focus on sustainability and the transition to a low-carbon economy is particularly important.
"Perth is well placed to contribute to these conversations through our research institutions, clean technology sector, professional services and innovative businesses that are helping shape more sustainable cities and industries.
"By supporting events like this, we're investing in opportunities that deliver immediate economic benefits while helping position Perth for long-term success in a rapidly changing global economy."
Speakers at the event include:
- Western Australian Premier; Minister for Defence Industries; Tourism; Trade and Investment Roger Cook
- Global President and CEO of the Asia Society and 26th Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd
