Philippines Visit to Boost Regional Energy Security

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy Josh Wilson will travel to the Philippines for the East Asia Summit Energy Minister's Meeting (EAS EMM).

The Assistant Minister will meet with ASEAN partners to strengthen Australia's regional cooperation on fuel and energy security, and investment in clean energy and decarbonisation.

Supporting Australia's COP31 priorities, the visit provides an opportunity to grow Australia's bilateral and regional partnerships to help accelerate the global clean energy transition - with a focus on electrification, grids, and storage.

In Manila, Assistant Minister Wilson will participate in the ASEAN East Asian Summit Energy Ministers' Meeting and attend the Asia Zero Emissions Community Ministerial Meeting, where he will highlight how the transition can strengthen energy security, build resilience and support economic growth.

Assistant Minister Wilson said collaboration with nations in Southeast Asia was central to Australia's future.

"Deepening our relationships with ASEAN partners is critical to energy security, Australia's economic growth and accelerating the global clean energy transition. I look forward to constructive discussions in Manila," Assistant Minister Wilson said.

Assistant Minister Wilson will return on Saturday 10 October.
