Plans have been unveiled for the new Gawler Technical College, which will offer up to 250 students in Years 10, 11 and 12 full-time industry training - with a focus on in-demand careers in construction and engineering.
The technical college - due to open behind the co-located Gawler and District College B-12 School in January 2028 - will provide students living in the growing northern suburbs access to local training, linking young people to employers in industry sectors.
Architect Brown Falconer and builder Hindmarsh have been selected to deliver the college on Para Rd – the same companies involved in the design and construction of Findon Technical College .
Construction is expected to start late this year and be completed by December 2027.
New technical colleges are also earmarked for Murray Bridge and Marden, which will take the state's nation-leading network to eight colleges.
There are now more than 1000 students enrolled in colleges across the state, creating a skills pipeline to meet defence, major infrastructure and housing needs.
Students receive a VET qualification, complete their SACE and gain hands-on experience in facilities that replicate the workplace – ensuring graduates are job-ready and their training meets real-world industry needs.
