Get amped for an action-packed November with activities, workshops, exhibitions and more on for free in Townsville this month.

Get involved in one of the free Get Connected: One to One Sessions at Citylibraries Flinders Street each Friday between 3 November and 22 December 2023 to learn more about technology and sit down with a tech expert. Two sessions are available, with one starting at 9:30am and another starting at 10:45 am. Join best-selling Australian author Fleur McDonald to celebrate her latest novel Voices in the Dark at Citylibraries Riverway from 6pm this Friday. Bookings are required, to find out more call Citylibraries Riverway on 4727 8310.

Friday will be an evening of art exhibition launches across Townsville City, starting at Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts from 6pm for Asia Pacific Video and A Sense of Place by Ann Vardanega. Perc Tucker Regional Gallery will present the launch of Asia Pacific Contemporary: Three Decades of APT from 6:45pm. Join QAGOMA's Assistant Director, Learning and Public Engagement Simon Wright for a floor talk at 10:30am on Saturday 4 November 2023 at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery.

Enjoy a stunning comedy cabaret from Jenny Wynter for her show By Request at Townsville Civic Theatre as part of Morning Melodies from 11am on Saturday, followed by an evening performance at 7:30pm. On Saturday, Citylibraries Flinders Street will host its First Nations Book Club and Family History Club, providing assistance with First Nations family history researching using resources from the Norman Tindale and Margaret Lawrie collections. Bookings are not required, sessions run from 9am to midday.

Townsville's newest residents will be warmly welcomed into the community at Saturday's Welcoming Babies Ceremony. The ceremony is at full capacity, and new or expecting parents can register to be on the waitlist for the next ceremony taking place in March 2024.

Attend the launch of Mariw Minaral (Spiritual Patterns) at Pinnacles Gallery, bringing together some of the finest examples of Zendah Kes (Torres Strait Islands) artist Alick Tipoti's unique and intricate linocut printmaking practice, sculptural works, contemporary masks and films.
