Police appeal for assistance after firearms stolen from Rossmore property

Police are seeking information from the community after three firearms were stolen from a rural property in Sydney's south-west this week.

Earlier today (Wednesday 17 April 2019), officers from Camden Police Area Command were called to a rural property on McCann Road, Rossmore, following reports of a break-in.

Police were told the owner had been away from the home since last Friday (12 April 2019), and returned just after midday today to find the home ransacked.

The firearms safe and ammunition safe had been forced open and two rifles - a .22 calibre and a .303 calibre – and a 12-guage shotgun and ammunition stolen.

A crime scene was established at the home, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Local detectives have commenced an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information that may assist with their inquiries to come forward.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
