Police appeal to locate missing elderly man from Waverley

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an elderly man missing from Sydney's eastern suburbs.

James Leary, aged 93, was last seen on Macpherson Street, Waverley, about 11am on Wednesday (7 October 2022).

When James could not be contacted by friends, Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were notified about 6pm yesterday (Thursday 8 September 2022) and immediately commenced inquiries to locate him.

Police and friends hold serious concerns for James's welfare due to his age as well as him living with a number of medical conditions including dementia.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 177cm tall, slim build and grey slicked back hair.

It is not known what James was last wearing but he regularly wears either red, black or green flannelette buttoned up shirts along with tracksuit pants and sneakers. He may also be in possession of a shopping cart.

James is known to frequent the Waverley, Bronte and Bondi Junction areas.

Anyone who may have seen James, or who may know of his whereabouts, is urged to contact Waverley Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
