Police are responding to fatal crash, Norwell

A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash at Norwell this afternoon.

Preliminary information suggests a motorcycle was travelling along Pimpama-Jacobs Well Road when it collided head-on with a four-wheel drive travelling in the opposite direction around 4.45pm.

Both vehicles ignited as a result of the crash, sparking a grass fire.

Emergency services attended the scene and the blaze was brought under control.

The motorbike rider, a 54 year-old man from Pimpama, sustained significant injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 49-year-old male driver of the four-wheel-drive did not sustain serious injury.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
