Police arrest driver after Expressway crash, South Australia

A driver was arrested after crashing a car on the Southern Expressway this evening.

Emergency services responded after reports of a car hitting the barrier on the Southern Expressway, Lonsdale about 6.30pm on Tuesday 29 March.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes between O'Sullivan Beach Road and Sherriffs Road.

Witnesses reported the two occupants ran off.

Police searched the area and quickly located a man and a woman nearby.

A 31-year-old Murray Bridge man, who was the alleged driver, was arrested. He was charged with driving without due care, driving while disqualified, unregistered, uninsured and with unassigned plates. It is expected that he will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.

His passenger, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment of minor injuries.

The silver Ford sedan was towed from the scene and the road was cleared shortly after 8pm.
