Police arrest driver after pursuit - South Granville

Police are waiting to speak with a man after a pursuit and crash in South Granville overnight.

Officers from Cumberland police Area Command were patrolling Woodville Road about 8.20pm (Thursday 24 December 2020), when they saw a BMW coupe allegedly being driven erratically.

Police directed the driver to stop; however, a pursuit was initiated when the driver allegedly failed to obey a direction.

The coupe was followed to Wynyard and Dellwood streets where it was involved in a collision with Toyota Yaris near the intersection of Clyde Street. The coupe continued across the road, mounted a footpath and travelled into the front yard of a house damaging a water meter.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been taken to Westmead Hospital.

A couple aged in their 70s travelling in the Yaris were also taken to Westmead Hospital to be checked as a precaution.

Inquiries are continuing.
