Police arrest four teens in stolen car

Four teens have been arrested at Craigburn Farm after being caught in the stolen Prado involved in the ram raid at Morphett Vale this week.

Just before 4am Wednesday 29 November police were called to a supermarket on Main South Road after reports that a Toyota Prado had crashed into the front window of the store and up to four people had entered and stolen items.

When police arrived at the scene the suspects had left in the Prado. Checks on the car revealed it had been stolen from a Kings Park home sometime overnight between Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 November.

About 1am this morning (Friday 1 December) Southern patrols spotted the stolen Toyota Prado travelling along Main South Road, Morphett Vale. Patrols did not engage with the Prado, but called in PolAir who were already in the air and were quickly overhead following the car.

PolAir tracked the Prado from the sky as it travelled north on the Southern Expressway all the way up to Shepherds Hill Road. The car travelled east along Shepherds Hill Road then turned south on to Coromandel Parade. The Prado travelled through the back streets of Craigburn Farm before turning onto Bonython Way.

At this location patrols on the ground swarmed in, blocking the exits. As a last ditch attempt to escape the Prado rammed a police vehicle. The four occupants then jumped out of the Prado and ran off.

Patrols quickly chased down two, while PD Bomber tracked down the other two hiding in a front yard. Four 16-year-olds were arrested and they are expected to be charged with serious driving offences, including driving unlicenced. Police are investigating if these boys were involved in the Morphett Vale ram raid on Wednesday.

The Prado and the police car were towed from the scene.
