Police Arrest Man After Sexual Assault

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in relation to the alleged sexual assault of a 47-year-old woman in Palmerston overnight.

Just after 10:30pm, members of the public contacted police after a woman approached them in a car park in the Palmerston CBD and reported that she had been assaulted. The woman had visible injuries.

CCTV operators identified and tracked the alleged offender as he moved through the area, providing police with real time information on his location.

Police attended and quickly apprehended the 35-year-old man, who was arrested and taken to the Palmerston Watch House.

Police would like to acknowledge and thank the members of the public who assisted the woman and immediately contacted police. Their actions, together with the work of CCTV operators and responding officers, enabled police to quickly locate and arrest the alleged offender.

Investigations remain ongoing.
