Police arrest man after stabbing in northern suburbs, South Australia

A man has been arrested after an alleged assault overnight at Para Hills West.

Patrols were called to a private function at a fitness studio on Beafield Road just before 1.30am on Sunday 8 August, where approximately 30 people were in attendance.

Police will allege the suspect had an altercation with a woman before the victim intervened and was stabbed in the back. He was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a minor stab wound to his back.

The suspect left prior to patrols arriving but was located a short time later at nearby service station where he was arrested.

The 23-year-old from Semaphore, has been charged with aggravated assault cause harm and is expected to be bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in September.

Police will also be investigating breaches of the Emergency Management Act directions.
