Construction on a new secondary school in the fast-growing suburb of Brabham has officially started, thanks to investment from the Cook Labor Government.
The $144 million Brabham Senior High School (planning name) will accommodate 1,000 students and be delivered in two stages, with the first ready for day one of school in 2028.
Stage 1 will feature contemporary classrooms, administration and student services, a resource centre and computer science teaching area, as well as hard courts, landscaping, and parking.
Construction will continue for Stage 2, delivering additional specialist facilities including an Education Support Centre for up to 45 students, health and physical education facilities, materials technology, science and food technology spaces, and a cafeteria.
The school oval will be a shared-use public open space, creating a valuable community asset that both students and the community can enjoy.
The school is being built by PS Structures Pty Ltd and was designed by Taylor Robinson Chaney Broderick Architects.
The new build forms part of the State Labor Government's record investment of $6.4 billion in quality education infrastructure across Western Australia since 2017.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
