Police arrest man at Blair Athol

A man has been arrested following an incident at Blair Athol.

Police will allege that about 8.45pm on Tuesday 30 May, patrols were called to Robert Street after reports of a man running through backyards and on the roof of a house.

The man allegedly threw roof tiles at police, hitting a patrol car. No officers were injured.

Extra resources were called to the area including STAR Group officers and negotiators, as the man refused to come down from the roof and was jumping across to neighbouring properties. He was also armed with a knife.

The man eventually came down off the roof just before midnight and was arrested.

The 32-year-old Port Lincoln man was taken to the RAH for a mental health assessment. He will be released back into police custody where he will face numerous charges including being unlawfully on premises, property damage, assault police and unlawful possession.

It is expected that he will be refused bail to appear in court today.
