Police arrest man for Cranbourne carjacking

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged aggravated burglary and carjacking in Cranbourne on 10 December.

Detectives with the assistance of the Special Operations Group arrested a 25-year-old Clyde North man in a carpark in Cranbourne yesterday morning.

A subsequent search of him and his vehicle uncovered what is alleged to be a quantity of methylamphetamine and a large quantity of cash.

A warrant was then executed at a Clyde North property.

He has been charged with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence and possessing the proceeds of crime and has been remanded in custody to appear at Frankston Magistrates' Court today.

He is the third person to be arrested in relation to an aggravated burglary where a firearm was produced and an aggravated carjacking, both occurring in Toirram Crescent in Cranbourne on the morning of 10 December.

A 28-year-old Kingsville man was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated carjacking, prohibited person possess a firearm, assault and other related offences.

A 39-year-old Cranbourne man was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, assault and other related offences.

Both men have appeared in court and have been remanded in custody to reappear at court on the 4 April.
