Police arrest man for recklessly firing gel blaster, South Australia

A man has been arrested after allegedly pointing and firing a gel blaster at another vehicle near Dublin this morning.

The vehicles were both travelling north along Port Wakefield Road, near Dublin, about 10.30am on Friday 30 April. It will be alleged the passenger pointed what appeared to be a black handgun out the window and fired several times at the victim's car.

Police were notified and the victim was able to provide the registration of the vehicle and identify the firearm involved as being a gel blaster.

Fortunately, the victim and his elderly passenger were not injured during the incident.

The suspect vehicle was located and stopped by police near Kulpara and a gel blaster was located during a search of the car. A small quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also found in the car.

A 43-year-old Port Hughes man was arrested and charged with possess an unregistered firearm, possess an unlicensed firearm and recklessly discharge a firearm. He was bailed to appear in the Kadina Magistrates Court on 8 June.

He was also issued with a drug diversion.
