A man was arrested following an alleged sexual assault at Mount Pleasant overnight.
It will be alleged a man broke into a residential premises at Mount Pleasant and sexually assaulted the occupant.
Police were called just before 3am on Wednesday 20 May and searched the town and surrounding area with the assistance of Special Crime Investigation Section, STAR Group officers and Police Dog Enzo.
A suspect was located in the town centre just after 10.30am and arrested without incident.
The 27-year-old Salisbury man was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and rape. He will be refused police bail and will appear in court at the earliest opportunity.
It will be alleged that the arrested man and victim are not known to each other.
Police wish to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident, and no outstanding suspects are sought.
Detectives are seeking the assistance of the public to locate a vehicle used by the suspect, a white 2000 Mazda Bravo utility, registration S581CMW.
Anyone who spots the car or has information on its whereabouts is asked to contact police immediately.
Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw or interacted with the man in the area in the last 24 hours. He is described as of Middle Eastern appearance, 175cm tall, with short black hair, unshaven and wearing a black shirt and sandy coloured pants.
