Police arrest men after several incident in Esperance

Two 18-year-old men have been charged by Esperance Police as a result of their investigation into several incidents that occurred on 27 January 2020.

It is alleged the men damaged vehicles on Leake Street;

On The Esplanade, it is alleged they assaulted a 48-year-old homeless man by throwing rocks and chairs at him. The victim received a number of injuries and required medical treatment at the Esperance Hospital;

It is further alleged on Dempster Street, they threw rocks and other items that damaged several cars and a glass unit door. They also pulled out multiple lamp posts from a unit complex, exposing live electrical wires. They continued on along Dempster Street where they stole bicycles from a caravan park; and

It is also alleged they trespassed into the rear yard of a property on Walmsley Street in Castletown.

The men, one from Koondoola and the other from Sinclair, are due to appear before the Esperance Magistrates Court today, 4 February 2020 each charged with:-

Six counts of Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property;

One count of Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm;

One count of Stealing;

One count of Steal Motor Vehicle; and

One count of Trespass.
