A teenager will appear in court for creating false belief after he posted a picture of a firearm on social media yesterday.
On Tuesday 21 February police received a report regarding the dissemination of a social media post with a picture of a firearm and threatening words.
Following an investigation, on Tuesday 21 February, Northern District Detectives spoke to the alleged author of the social media post.
Police determined he had downloaded the photo from the internet, and never had possession of a firearm.
The 14-year-old boy from Brompton was arrested and charged with creating a false belief. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court today.
