Four men, including two provisional licence holders, are due to appear in court after being caught street racing in Sydney's west, travelling well over the speed limit.
About 12.25am (Sunday 3 May 2020), officers attached to Nepean Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on the Great Western Highway, Kingswood, when they observed a white Toyota 86 and a red Peugeot 206 heading east, reaching estimated speeds of 120km/h in a 60km/h zone.
The Toyota was checked at 130km/h and 124km/h and continued in an easterly direction, with the Peugeot maintaining the same speed alongside.
The vehicles were stopped by police shortly after, with the 23-year-old Toyota driver and 21-year-old Peugeot driver, issued Field Court Attendance Notices for street racing and exceed speed over 45km/h.
Both men will appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday 27 of August 2020
Later the same morning, around 3am, Nepean Highway Patrol were again conducting stationary speed enforcement at Jamisontown, when a Toyota Starlet and a Mazda 323 were heading north on Mulgoa Road at an estimated speed of 130kph in a 60kph zone.
Both cars were checked at 140kph and continued northbound. Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicles and located both cars in the parking lot of a nearby fast food restaurant and leagues club.
The 21-year-old driver of the Mazda was spoken to and issued a Court Attendance Notice for street racing, exceed speed over 45kph, not comply with P2 licence conditions, and not display P plates.
The 21-year-old driver of the Toyota was also issued a Court Attendance Notice for street racing and exceed speed over 45kph.
Both men are due to appear in Penrith Local Court on Thursday 30 July 2020.
All drivers had their licences suspended, and the registration plates of the Toyota Starlet, Toyota 86 and Peugeot 206 where seized.
