Police charge man after assault at Flinders Street Railway Station

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 21-year-old man after a man was seriously assaulted at Flinders Street Station earlier this month.

Police have been told the 40-year-old man was waiting for a train on platform three when two unknown men walked towards him about 9.25pm on Saturday 11 June.

It is alleged one of the men became involved in a verbal altercation with the victim before punching him to the head knocking him unconscious.

The Chirnside Park man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

A Meadow Heights man was arrested and charged today with recklessly cause serious injury, recklessly cause injury and unlawful assault.

He was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 6 December.
