Police charge man after drugs and replica grenade located at Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged after drugs, weapons and a replica grenade were seized from a property in the state's Riverina.

Just after 11.30am yesterday (Tuesday 8 June 2021), officers attached to Riverina Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Ashmont Avenue, Ashmont and spoke with the 54-year-old resident.

It will be alleged police located an inert grenade, which is a training model/replica.

A search of the premises also allegedly uncovered a .308 calibre rifle, cannabis and a plastic toy pistol, which officers seized.

The man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with possess unregistered firearm-not pistol, possess unauthorised firearm, possess or use a military-style weapon without permit, not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm, and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail, to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 21 July 2021.
