Police charge man after kicking trainee guide dog at Penrith

A man has been charged after allegedly kicking a guide dog in training in Sydney's west this morning.

Just before 10am (Thursday 3 June 2021), police were called to High Street, Penrith, after reports a dog had been kicked by an unknown man.

Police have been told a woman/man was training the dog at the time of the incident. It has since been taken to a vet for assessment.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and arrested a 53-year-old man.

He has been taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with commit an act of cruelty upon an animal.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Friday 4 June 2021).
