Police charge man after kitten dies - Bronte

A man will face court today after a kitten died at an apartment in Bronte last weekend.

A 25-year-old man was at a unit in Palmerstone Avenue about 5pm on Sunday 20 December 2020, when he carried the occupant's Bengal kitten outside.

Witnesses have told police the man allegedly threw the 12-week-old kitten onto the ground, then into a wall.

The kitten was taken to a nearby vet; however, died a short time later.

Following inquiries, officers attached with Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended an apartment in Pitt Street, Haymarket, about 10.15pm yesterday (Monday 21 December 2020) and arrested a 25-year-old man.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with recklessly beat/kill an animal.

The man has been refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court today (Tuesday 22 December 2020).
