Police charge man after officers assaulted, police station damaged at Auburn

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting two police officers and causing damage to Auburn Police Station overnight.

About 12.10am (Friday 18 December 2020), a 39-year-old man was in the foyer of the police station for an unrelated matter, when he allegedly became agitated and kicked the sliding doors at the entrance to the station, which caused significant damage.

He was arrested and as he was being taken to the custody area, it's alleged he struggled with police, causing a leading senior constable to fall to the ground.

Its' further alleged the man assaulted a sergeant while in the custody area.

The Regents Park man was charged with attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm (domestic), assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm (x2), resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty and destroy or damage property.

He has been refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court later today.
