Police charge man after Point Cook crash

A man has been charged by police after his vehicle crashed into several trees in Point Cook early this morning.

Officers charged the man with 13 charges including assaulting police, resisting arrest, careless driving, driving in a manner dangerous, failing to have proper control of a motor vehicle and failing to stop vehicle upon police request.

The 20-year-old Point Cook man was bailed to appear before the Werribee Magistrates' Court on 14 December.

The incident unfolded when officers from Corio attempted to intercept a Holden sedan after the driver was seen performing burnouts out the front of Corio Police Station about 3.45am.

The driver fled before crashing in Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook where officers arrested him about 5.20am.
