Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a man following a suspicious fire in Corio last month.
Investigators allege a man was seen lighting a rubbish pile on fire outside a property on Sharland Road about 6.10pm on Tuesday, 11 August.
The fire spread to the house, which sustained extensive damage.
Three occupants inside the property were evacuated safely and there were no injuries.
Yesterday, detectives executed a warrant a property in Corio and arrested a 56-year-old man.
He was charged with:
- criminal damage by fire - arson
- conduct endangering life,
- conduct endangering persons
- handle stolen goods
The Corio man was bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on 16 September.
