Police charge man after Toorak aggravated burglary

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged aggravated burglary in Toorak last month.

It is alleged the man gained entry to a Toorak apartment on 16 April, about 7.45am.

Once inside the Lansell Road premises, the man allegedly took a laptop and a mobile phone belonging to the 99-year-old homeowner.

The man was confronted by the resident who followed him outside only to observe the male driving away in a silver Lexus sedan.

As part of their ongoing enquiries detectives located and arrested a 38-year-old man in relation to the incident after they located the same silver Lexus sedan parked in a laneway near a Pask Street residence in Melbourne, about 12.35am on 10 May.

The Melton man has been charged with aggravated burglary, evade, theft of a motor vehicle, fraud using registration plates, possessing methylamphetamine and bail offences.

He has appeared at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 10th May 2023 and was remanded into custody.
