Police charge man over Devonport business damage

A man has been charged over an incident where copper piping was stolen from the top floor of a commercial building in Devonport CBD, causing significant flood damage to a number of businesses on the ground floor.

Police were called to the corner of Best and Rooke streets about 5am Thursday 19 October.

A 44-year-old Devonport man has since been charged with multiple offences including burglary, trespass, stealing, destroy property and minor drug offences.

He was detained to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court later today.
