Police Charge Man Over DV Offences - Port Stephens

A Hunter Valley man has been charged following an investigation by the Hunter DV High Risk Offender Team (DVHROT) following alleged offences in the Sydney area.

On Sunday 27 July 2025, police began an investigation following reports of a domestic violence incident at a home in Gregory Hills.

Police were told a man allegedly pushed a woman known to him into a wall before threatening her with a knife.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command – assisted by officers from the Hunter DVHROT – commenced inquiries to locate and arrest the man.

Following extensive inquiries, officers attended a motel at Fern Bay in Port Stephens about 7am yesterday (Wednesday 6 August 2025).

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the motel and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.

There he was charged with 18 offences:

  • Common assault – DV (six counts),
  • Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm – domestic (three counts),
  • Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO – domestic (three counts),
  • Armed with intent commit indictable offence,
  • Install/use tracking device to find object no consent,
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm – DV (two counts), and
  • Intentionally choke etc person without consent (two counts).

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 yesterday (Wednesday 6 August 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 12 August 2025.
