Police charge man over Salamanca jewellery burglaries

Detectives from the Hobart Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 39 year old man from Clarendon Vale in relation to a number of thefts, including two significant burglaries committed at jewellery businesses in Salamanca Place in early December, in which the total value of property stolen is approximately $200,000.

The man was arrested today after allegedly committing another burglary at a Sandy Bay supermarket overnight, targeting tobacco products.

The man has been charged with several offences and detained to appear in an out of hours court.

A significant quantity of bespoke jewellery from these matters is still outstanding and police are seeking assistance from anyone who may have information leading to its recovery.
