Police charge man over unauthorised protest - Banksmeadow

A man has been charged following an unauthorised protest at Banksmeadow.

About 6.40am today (Saturday 26 March 2022), emergency services were called to Botany Road following reports a man had suspended himself over a freight rail line near the intersection with Beauchamp Road.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command and Police Rescue attended and the man was removed within 20 minutes.

The 29-year-old was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with:

- Endanger safety of person on railway

- Refuse/fail to comply with direction

- Risk safety other by abseiling/jumping off building

- Encourage the carrying on operation for commission of crime

- Owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger

The Queensland man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 27 March 2022).
