Police charge man with drug offences - Surry Hills

A man has been charged with drug offences after police conducted a search warrant in Surry Hills earlier today.

Officers from Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad – South commenced an investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs around the Surry Hills area.

About 9.00am (Thursday 6 April 2023), police executed a search warrant at a unit on Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills.

Among the items seized was $11,000 in cash, a quantity of white powder which police will allege in court to be methylamphetamine and cocaine. A large quantity of MDMA, psilocybin mushrooms – known as magic mushrooms – a hydraulic press and electronic scales.

A 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with six offences including supply prohibited drug – more than large commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug – more than commercial quantity, supply prohibited drug – more than indictable quantity but less that commercial quantity, possess prohibited drug, deal with proceeds of crime – less than $100,000 and goods in custody.

He was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Friday 7 April 2023).
