Two men will face court today charged after police seized more than four tonnes of tobacco worth $5 million in Sydney's west yesterday.
About 5.30pm (Tuesday 6 July 2021), officers from the Mt Druitt Proactive Crime Team attended a storage facility on Enterprise Place, Glendenning.
At the premises, police discovered steel receptacles made to look like industrial compressors in two storage units, containing vacuum sealed bags of shredded tobacco leaf.
Two men, aged 28 and 30, were arrested at the facility and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station.
Police executed search warrants at the complex, seizing a total of 4.1 tonnes of tobacco, with an estimated potential street value of $5 million.
The pair were charged with possess tobacco/seed/plant/leaf 500 kilograms or above and refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Wednesday 7 July 2021).
